Leukemia, also spelled leukaemia, is a group of blood cancers that usually begin in the bone marrow and result in high numbers of abnormal blood cells. These blood cells are not fully developed and are called blasts or leukemia cells.
Leukemia is a cancer caused by an overproduction of damaged white blood cells. It is common in children, but leukemia most often occurs in adults older than 55.
Leukemia or leukaemia is a cancer of white blood cells and bone marrow. When a person has leukemia, the body creates too many white blood cells (leukocytes). There are many kinds of leukemia.
